What You Need to Know About Large-Volume Liposuction

Hello, this is Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery. It is widely known that combining exercise with a proper diet is the most ideal approach for weight loss or a successful diet. However, if you have already experienced repeated diet failures and yo-yo weight changes, weight loss may be slow, or it may be difficult to achieve a beautiful body line. In addition, many people may find it hard to maintain consistent dieting and care due to time constraints or personal circumstances. In such cases, you may consider addressing the issue through a procedure or surgery, and one option is liposuction.

Recently, many people have been looking into large-volume liposuction because it can improve body lines by removing fat only from specific desired areas. While looking at the liposuction case above together, I will explain in an easy-to-understand way what you should know about large-volume liposuction. First, among patients who inquire about liposuction, many seem to have questions about the amount of fat that can be removed. Many patients ask to have a large amount removed all at once because they want to lose a lot of fat at once, but not everyone is able to undergo large-volume fat removal.

First of all, the amount that can be suctioned differs from person to person. You need to have a consultation with me directly, or consult with another specialist, and accurately measure your body fat amount through ultrasound, InBody testing, and other evaluations before diagnosing the amount of fat that can be removed. Large-volume liposuction is generally known as suctioning around 5,000 cc in a single session. In the case of my patients, we accurately assess each individual’s body fat amount, body weight, BMI, skeletal muscle mass, and other factors to determine and perform a safe large-volume liposuction amount.

The areas that many people ask about for liposuction are diverse, including the face, chin, arms, accessory breasts, armpits, upper abdomen, lower abdomen, love handles, thighs, knees, calves, and ankles, and you can choose only the areas you want. For liposuction surgery, an incision is made in a hidden area so that scarring is not noticeable. In general liposuction, fat removal is performed through incisions in inconspicuous areas such as the armpit, navel, bikini line, or under the buttocks.

In my case, I perform liposuction through minimal incisions of about 1 to 2 cm so that scars are not exposed, and I use a handmade manual technique rather than a machine-based method. One of the most common questions during liposuction consultations is whether the procedure is performed by a machine-based method or a handmade manual method. The handmade manual method allows the surgeon to directly feel the surgical area with the hands, enabling more delicate and dense suction, and it is known to result in less scarring, swelling, and pain than machine-based methods. The case above, which I performed myself, was also carried out using the handmade manual method.

Large-volume liposuction is a surgery in which a specialist’s meticulous technique and extensive surgical experience are important. As the amount removed increases, the likelihood of side effects may also rise, so it is advisable to consult with various specialists, seek their opinions, and choose a trustworthy clinic. In addition, there are many guidelines to follow after liposuction, such as swelling and pain management, whether to wear a compression garment, the recovery period, and precautions, so please take these factors into account when making your decision. Thank you.
