For correcting sagging double eyelids and droopy-looking eyes

Hello, this is Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery. Sagging double eyelids can make the eyelids look heavy and cause the front or outer part of the double-eyelid crease to appear hidden. These changes can make you look tired and older than your actual age, which may lead to stress. In particular, changes in the shape or size of the eyes can disrupt the overall balance of the face and negatively affect self-confidence.

There are several main causes of sagging double eyelids. First, aging is a natural process that happens to everyone. As skin elasticity decreases and the fat around the eyes changes, sagging of the eyelids and double-eyelid crease can occur. Second, genetic factors also play an important role, so if someone in your family has sagging double eyelids, you may be more likely to experience the same concern. Third, reduced skin elasticity can be accelerated by everyday lifestyle habits, sun exposure, and other factors. Finally, rapid weight changes can reduce the skin’s ability to stretch and recover, making sagging double eyelids worse. All of these factors can affect double-eyelid sagging and increase concerns about one’s appearance.

It is true that sagging can occur over time even after eyelid surgery. This is a common concern for many people, and there are various ways to address or manage it. I believe there are many types of cosmetic surgeries that can correct or improve a sagging double-eyelid line. Common options include double-eyelid surgery, ptosis correction, and upper blepharoplasty. Among the patients I have treated, some preferred a non-surgical procedure and tried to improve the concern with Botox.

Botox treatment can, depending on the individual’s condition, make droopy eyes appear worse, so I strongly recommend deciding on the procedure only after consultation with a specialist. Now, let me explain in detail the surgical cosmetic methods used to correct droopy eyes. If the degree of eyelid sagging is not severe, the excess sagging skin can be addressed through incisional double-eyelid surgery. Another method is ptosis correction. This is also called blepharoptosis correction, a procedure that adjusts the strength of the muscles used to open the eyes, and it is mainly performed when the eyelids droop or the eyes appear small.

Upper blepharoplasty is a surgery that removes part of the stretched skin tissue with reduced elasticity and lifts the upper eyelid area to create a firmer-looking eye shape. It is mainly performed to improve droopy eyes caused by aging or obstruction of the visual field, so I recommend it for patients with severe sagging and those in older age groups. The photo above shows a case of a patient I personally operated on. Looking at the patient before surgery, you can see that there was sagging of the double eyelids.

In this patient’s case, they had undergone double-eyelid surgery a long time ago, but the sagging symptoms did not improve, and I remember that they contacted me directly to resolve this concern. To correct the overall droopy eye shape and the double-eyelid crease that appeared hidden toward the outer line, I performed incisional double-eyelid surgery and incisional ptosis correction, adjusting the eye-opening muscles so that the eyelids no longer felt heavy. Through this surgery, the patient achieved a brighter and more attractive eye shape, and the previous sagging symptoms were effectively improved. If you contact us with a similar case, we will also help you maintain the best possible results through the necessary care and guidance during the postoperative recovery process. Thank you.
