Hello, this is Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery. Today we would like to talk about Thermage, one of the best-known skin-tightening treatments.
Thermage is a skin elasticity treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy. When RF delivers heat into the dermal layer, existing collagen contracts temporarily, and over the following months new collagen forms, gradually refining skin texture and firmness. Its hallmark is that a tip is placed on the skin and energy is delivered plane by plane — no needles, no incisions.
It is mainly considered for concerns like these: skin that feels less firm than it used to, fine lines or enlarged pores becoming noticeable, cheeks or a jawline just beginning to soften, or delicate areas such as the eye zone. The eye area is treated with a dedicated eye tip, and the tip and energy settings are adjusted by area. It can also be applied to body areas such as the abdomen or arms. When sagging is more advanced, however, what a device alone can achieve may be limited, so suitability should be confirmed through an examination.
The session flows like this: numbing cream is applied and left to take effect, then RF is delivered zone by zone. Depending on the treatment range it usually takes about an hour. During the session you feel repeated moments of heat, and how strongly you feel them differs from person to person.
Recovery is on the light side. Washing your face and returning to daily routines the same day is generally possible, and temporary redness or subtle swelling typically settles within days. Some skin reacts more sensitively to heat, so for the first several days it is best to avoid saunas, heavy drinking, and firm massage on the treated area, while paying extra attention to moisturising and sun protection. Recovery patterns vary by individual.
Frequently asked questions: when do results show? Rather than an instant change, this is a treatment whose effect builds over weeks to months as collagen regenerates, so there is no need to feel anxious early on. How long does it last? It is commonly described as around a year, but this depends greatly on skin condition and aftercare. How is it different from Ultherapy? The key difference is the layer treated — sagging tends to point to Ultherapy first, texture and laxity to Thermage.
At Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery, we examine your skin first and determine together whether Thermage is the right fit or another treatment would suit you better. Feel free to reach out through a consultation.
