The 2020 Miss Korea Miss Seoul Pageant was recently held at the Korea Artists Center in Seoul, and Dr. Hwang Ho, representative director of Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery, was appointed as a judge.

Miss Korea Miss Seoul marks its 64th edition this year since the first competition was held in May 1957.

Unlike previous years, this year’s competition implemented thorough temperature checks and disinfection from the entrance to the venue in preparation for the COVID-19 situation. Starting with the Gyeongnam region, competitions are being held in 10 regions nationwide, through which Jin, Sun, and Mi are selected in each region before the final competition is held this coming September.

Director Hwang Ho gave a lecture to former Miss Korea contestants on the proportions and harmony of a beautiful face, how the Miss Korea pageant has evolved over the years, and how beauty trends have changed throughout that evolution.

He said, “Because the Miss Korea Pageant selects a representative of beauty who promotes Korean beauty to the world based on intelligence, virtue, and physical fitness, contestants are chosen through a systematic and rigorous process. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I plan to judge by considering both Korea’s traditional beauty and beauty standards aligned with global trends.”
