Sports Chosun and Healthinnews jointly select 15 winners of the ‘Medical & Health Social Contribution Awards’ Honors include Hallym University Medical Center winning for the third consecutive time, and 365 Helio Korean Medicine Clinic winning for the second consecutive time
The list of winners for the ‘2022 Medical & Health Social Contribution Awards,’ jointly hosted by Sports Chosun and the medical media outlet Healthinnews, was announced on the 20th.
This time, to prevent COVID-19 infection, the event was held online without a separate offline ceremony.
Held for the third time following December 2019 and February 2021, the Medical & Health Social Contribution Awards were established to discover and announce outstanding brands in each field that set an example in customer-satisfaction service and community contribution activities through the HSR (Hospital Social Responsibility) campaign.
The categories for this year’s Medical & Health Social Contribution Awards included public institutions and organizations, general hospitals, specialized hospitals and clinics, pharmaceutical and biotech companies, medical device companies, and health functional food companies. Selection focused on five evaluation criteria, including social welfare and customer-centeredness, shared growth, eco-friendliness, and mutual-benefit sharing. To ensure fairness, the process was based on preliminary research and public merit evaluation, and opinions were gathered from judging panels composed of experts in each field.
This year, a total of 15 hospitals, clinics, companies, and brands were named recipients of the ‘Medical & Health Social Contribution Awards.’ In particular, those selected this year were praised for continuing to fulfill their social responsibilities despite worsening business conditions and a subdued atmosphere caused by the COVID-19 situation.
Hallym University Medical Center of Ilsong Educational Foundation (general hospital category) and Hairland, with its ‘Meorinara’ brand, won for the third consecutive time, while 365 Helio Korean Medicine Clinic, The Bareun Neurosurgery Clinic, Kyung Hee Dabok Korean Medicine Clinic, Howyeon Korean Medicine Clinic, and Noonwi Co., Ltd. were selected for the second consecutive time.
In addition, The Catholic University of Korea Incheon St. Mary’s Hospital, Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery Clinic, Curaden Korea Ltd., The Well Internal Medicine Clinic, Daesung Psychiatry Clinic, Seoul Eunjung Dental Clinic, Yesan Seoul Eye Clinic, and Geonju Hospital each received the honor of their first award in their respective categories.
Award-winning medical institutions and companies were presented with plaques for the ‘2022 Medical & Health Social Contribution Awards’ as well as sponsored emblems.
The social responsibility activities of medical and health institutions and companies are expected to help build a trustworthy image among consumers and contribute to the development of a healthy and beautiful society.
Leading ‘safer K-beauty medicine’ through standardization of plastic surgery techniques
Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery Clinic
Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery Clinic carries the meaning of combining ‘beauty (美)’ with the ‘science (學)’ of plastic surgery medicine. It signifies medically creating modern beauty. This reflects a medical philosophy that seeks harmony rather than simply pursuing a flashy appearance.
In particular, Director Hong Hyo of Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery Clinic <photo> received favorable recognition for leading efforts to make K-beauty medicine safer through the standardization of plastic surgery techniques.
Director Hong, who built his career at leading major plastic surgery hospitals in Korea, has introduced Korea’s outstanding medical technology through several major international conferences. He continues to conduct various educational activities for plastic surgery specialists from around the world.
Director Hong said, “I feel a sense of responsibility to standardize surgical techniques in order to raise the brand value of Korea’s aesthetic medicine and, furthermore, to ensure the safety of patients seeking aesthetic medical care.”
Stating that “plastic surgery is a surgical procedure involving bone, muscle, and fat, so plastic surgeons must have a deeper understanding of the anatomical structure of the human body than anyone else,” he emphasized, “If surgical techniques can be standardized and taught accurately to many people, the safety of surgery will increase accordingly.”
Accordingly, Director Hong pays special attention to safety management before and after surgery. When general anesthesia is required, blood tests, electrocardiography, and chest radiography are always performed to ensure safety, while a hyperbaric oxygen therapy device has been installed to manage issues such as infections that may occur due to decreased immunity after surgery.
He emphasized, “As the doctor performing the surgery, it is important to have the responsibility to fully oversee everything from the surgical plan to postoperative recovery.” Director Hong added, “I am concerned that teenagers prioritize appearance and unconditionally follow standardized standards of beauty,” and stated, “I hope social perceptions of appearance will mature so that healthy and positive values can be instilled in them.”
