Dr. Hwang Ho, Chief Director of Hyundai Aesthetic Surgery, was selected as Doctor of the Year in the physician category at the 2021 KCA Excellent Professional Awards, hosted by the Korea Consumer Council and organized by Korea Consumer Evaluation.
The KCA Excellent Professional Awards aim to widely introduce outstanding professionals active in each field, thereby protecting consumers’ eight basic rights, including the ‘right to be informed’ and the ‘right to choose,’ and enabling consumers to benefit from professionals’ knowledge and expertise. Final honorees are selected after a rigorous screening process for each industry, from the candidate pool to the final selection criteria.
In the physician category, the process is conducted by region and round, and final award selection is reviewed for professionals whose candidate registration has been submitted. Award recipients were announced according to the application schedule for each regional round, with reference to career history, materials such as published works, and detailed criteria by field.
A representative of Korea Consumer Evaluation said, “As the purpose of the Excellent Professional Awards, held again this year following last year, is to protect consumers’ rights by helping outstanding professionals who work diligently in their fields become more widely known, we hope this award will allow more consumers to receive professional information and enjoy the benefits of those rights.”
The representative added, “Through the 2021 KCA Excellent Professional Awards, we hope the achievements of Korean medical professionals will receive renewed attention worldwide, and we will continue striving to make the awards a program that introduces professionals to consumers each year with improved standards and methods.”
Chief Director Hwang, who won the Grand Prize in the Doctor of the Year category at the 2021 KCA Excellent Professional Awards, provides one-on-one customized medical techniques based on extensive clinical experience across various fields, including eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, facial contouring, body contouring, and anti-aging.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon who has previously won the Grand Prize for eyelid and nose surgery in the plastic surgery category at the 2018 Medical Asia Awards, as well as the Grand Prize in the medical professional category at the 2020 New Korean Awards, he was appointed as a judge for the 2020 Miss Korea Seoul Pageant and participated in the judging.
Dr. Hwang shared his thoughts, saying, “There are many medical fields, and many specialized medical professionals are quietly doing their best in their respective positions, so I wonder whether I am truly deserving of this Excellent Professional of the Year award. Although plastic surgery is sometimes perceived simply as a field that changes appearance, I hope people will also recognize plastic surgery, like orthopedic surgery, as a medical field that changes the face or body shape based on surgical medical techniques.”
He added, “I believe plastic surgery is a form of mind-body corrective treatment that treats both appearance and the heart by resolving complexes a person has struggled with for a long time and restoring lowered self-esteem. Going forward, I will continue to feel an even greater sense of responsibility, place safety first in every procedure to enable safe surgery, and strive to be a medical professional who contributes to the further development of plastic surgery as a medical practice.”
